Waking Up To Christmas in Buenos Aires

December 25, 2010

I spent the morning of Christmas Eve moving out of my apartment in Aguero St, to the new one in Las Heras Ave. The first apartment I stayed in was actually the nicest one that Mente had, but my room was the size of a pantry, that I couldn’t even unpack my things (it didn’t even have a closet, so maybe it really was a pantry!). This new one is located in one of the busiest avenidas of BA (still in Palermo), like the Buendia of the city. We are on the 22nd floor, so we get to enjoy a fantastic view of the city.

This is what I get to wake up to:

The thing is, there are no stairs here. I really would be taking the stairs all the way to the 22F (okay, maybe till the 12th only) especially since the elevators take forever. Forever would be 60 whole seconds to get from the ground floor to the 22F (i.e. if there are no stops).

The old apartment had air-conditioning in the living room. This one has a floor to ceiling sliding door, balcony and an electric fan. Bearable, so far.

Since it’s located on the grande avenida, it gets really noisy. Plus, I already miss my flatmates.

I should stop complaining, I asked for this.

p.s. It is currently 5pm and I have not stepped out of the apartment. The city is a ghost town on Christmas day. I should really be taking advantage of the deserted streets to take pictures and explore neighborhoods, but the temperature right now is 36 degrees. Hopefully, the temp will go down in the next hour. Here, the sun sets at around 8:30pm, so I think I still have plenty of time to wander around the city with daylight.

PM, you are now staying in the 22nd floor and you take the stairs … it is like having a fire drill in RCBC. Bawal gamitin ang elevator. You have a good view and a bigger room and that is good. I am also particular on views so I would choose to have a good view even if my room is small. But maybe not so small as not being able to unpack. Enjoy your room, view, and dulce leche…

yes, but i only discovered the stairs the other day. i use it only during the daytime kasi madilim sa gabi…i’d have to switch on the lights on every floor.

if rcbc will allow me to use the stairs to get to our floor, i will seriously use the stairs! sobrang pawis ko nga lang by the time i get there. haha

the view is nice, pero it’s so noisy because of the cars, buses and ambulance/fire trucks.
